About the item
The PK80 Daybed is one of Poul Kjærholm's purest designs. This piece combines ivory leather with a brushed stainless steel frame. The extremely low, horizontal form gives the furniture an almost architectural tranquility and an exceptionally luxurious presence.
About design and history
Designed in 1957, the PK80 refines historical daybed forms to their essence. The mattress rests on a wooden support plate and has a core of foam and Hairlok, while the steel frame provides visual lightness. The PK80 is also part of the collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
About the designer and maker
Poul Kjærholm considered steel to be a material with the same artistic value as wood. The PK80 was originally produced by E. Kold Christensen. After Kjærholm's death, Fritz Hansen took over the production of the Kjærholm Collection and continues it today.
