Gun floor lamp by Philippe Starck for FLOS, finished in the most desirable finish: glossy 18K gold plating.
The FLOS Lounge Gun, designed in 2005 by Philippe Starck for the Italian lighting house FLOS, is a standing lamp that makes a distinctly political statement about the connection between war and money. Designed as a replica of an American M16 assault rifle , the lamp was described by Starck as a "sign of the times," in which the presence of death and violence permeates our daily landscape. Subversive and politically charged, yet imbued with his characteristic poetic imagination.
Starck gave the design a clearly legible symbolism: the gun represents war and power, the gold money and economic gain , and the black lampshade with crosses inside as a reminder of the many lives lost. Thus, the Lounge Gun becomes a tangible reminder that our comfortable prosperity is often built on invisible conflicts elsewhere in the world. A portion of the proceeds will also be donated to Frères des Hommes , an organization dedicated to improving the living conditions of children in developing countries.
This large model – the most imposing piece in the collection – stands approximately 170 cm tall and transforms any space into a gallery-like setting. The luxurious polished 18-karat gold finish, combined with the generous matte black shade with a gold-colored interior, creates a warm, rich glow. Thanks to the integrated dimmer, the lamp effortlessly adapts to any ambiance, from subtle and intimate to bold and dramatic.
The Lounge Gun is recognized worldwide as a design icon and is displayed in museums and high-end interiors. The gold version is among the most sought-after and is becoming increasingly rare now that certain editions are no longer produced by FLOS.
This lamp is in good, original condition with normal signs of wear and is fully stamped with the official FLOS hallmark. A powerful, layered, and timeless statement piece for bold interiors.
