About the item
This PK24 is an exceptional example of one of the most refined lounge chairs ever designed. Light, sculptural, and irresistibly elegant, with a presence that feels both serene and monumental.
Design and history
Designed in 1965, the PK24 is often referred to as the “hammock chair.” The curved steel frame supports a floating seat in woven rattan, finished with a leather headrest. That combination of taut tension and organic softness makes this an absolute highlight of Danish modernism.
Designer and maker
Poul Kjærholm is one of the greatest names in Scandinavian design. He was known for his exceptionally refined use of steel, which he approached as a noble and timeless material. The early productions by E. Kold Christensen are particularly beloved and highly valued by collectors worldwide.
Condition
This PK24 is in beautiful, excellent condition considering its age. The whole retains its elegance, tension, and authenticity in a particularly beautiful way. An extremely rare piece that only rarely appears on the market.
