WOW. One of the most beautiful desks of all time. The executive desk by Osvaldo Borsani , designed in 1956 for the Italian manufacturer Tecno , undoubtedly belongs among the absolute highlights of post-war Italian design.
This exceptional desk, crafted from beautiful tropical wood , is in very fine condition and exudes precisely the refinement for which Borsani is admired worldwide. The warm wood grain gives the piece a rich and luxurious presence, while the clean architectural lines keep the whole powerful, clear, and timeless.
What makes this design so special is its intelligent construction. The two rotating cabinets are supported by the characteristic stainless steel base and can be positioned as desired. This flexibility not only gives the desk a strong sculptural character but also makes it exceptionally functional. Everything feels well thought out, elegant, and technically refined.
This is a very beautiful executive desk that forms the perfect addition to any modernist office, but can just as easily be a showpiece in a high-end interior or private office. It is a desk that serves not only for working, but also to define a space.
Osvaldo Borsani was born in 1911 in Varedo, Italy. He studied fine arts at the Accademia di Brera in Milan and architecture at the Politecnico di Milano , where he graduated in 1936. He attracted attention early on at the Milan Triennale , where he received a silver medal for his Casa Minima project. At the same time, he worked in the family business, where furniture with strong European Deco influences was manufactured.
In 1953, Osvaldo founded the company Tecno together with his twin brother Fulgenzio , which quickly made a name for itself with an innovative, research-based approach to furniture design. Tecno grew into one of the most influential names in Italian design, with furniture that brings together technology, elegance, and functionality at an exceptional level.
This desk is rare today and highly sought after worldwide by vintage collectors, architects, and connoisseurs of high design. A piece with presence, intelligence, and enduring class.
