19th century finely hand-carved antique manikin in solid wood, France. Nice original patina.


Wooden mannequins, also known as "Lay figure", have been present in the artists' studios since the Renaissance. These models were used to study the figure in order to be able to paint the perfect proportions.

These models are sought worldwide as a decorative object and are extremely rare.

This puppet has obtained a beautiful patina over the years.
