Very nice early example of the crossed legged lounge chair designed by Fabiaan van Severen in his own studio, Belgium 1998.
The chairs have a gray coated metal tubular frame and very thick black leather seats attached with laces at the back. Very nicely shaped chairs with a nice patina due to age and use.
The lounge side chairs are no longer in production, so they are also a real collector's item.
Fabiaan Van Severen was born in Belgium in 1957. He graduated as a painter but turned to furniture designer and interior architecture.
The choice of materials is very decisive in his designs. He is always looking for materials that are as pure as possible and that speak for themselves.
One of his highly regarded interior designs is the Fort Napoleon in Ostend, which was converted into a museum. Works by Van Severen have already been awarded the Henri van de Velde Prize and the East Flemish Design Award.
